Librarian Shortage

We hear a lot about shortages ranging from nurses to teachers. But there's another profession that's in need that may surprise you. Florida State University is "checking out" the solution for the lack of librarians.

FSU's School of Information Studies has received a federal grant to recruit and educate 30 future librarians. As part of the grant, graduates will be required to work for two years in the north or central Florida area.

Local librarians say technology has added a whole new chapter to the job description.

With only one other information studies program in the state, FSU enrolls around 500 graduate students. Future librarians say they love their field because it’s a different story everyday.
