A Calhoun, Georgia family is lucky to be alive after their three story home exploded, but thankfully no one was inside at the time.
The explosion, which witnesses say left debris similar to the aftermath of a tornado, damaged 18 other homes in the neighborhood, 7 of which will have to be completely rebuilt before they can be lived in again.
Officials believe a natural gas leak caused the explosion at the Mansion.
"The work schedule of the wife, she is normally home in the afternoon of Thursday afternoons. She had to work late today. Their daughter is usually home after school, she had an orthodontist appointment today. The husband was on his way, he was within just a few minutes from home when the explosion happened" said Pastor Phil White of 7th Day Adventist Church.
The Belmont Baptist Church opened as a shelter for the displaced families.
Officials say no one was injured in the explosion.
