3-year old Nathaniel Fons was able to spend time with his grandparents in the big apple Friday, but has not been released into their custody.

Donald and Frieda Fons of Land O' Lakes, outside Tampa, arrived
at a children's services office carrying a teddy bear today, hoping to take their grandson home as soon as possible.

The boy was found alone at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan Tuesday evening with a note containing his name, his mothers name and the name of the detective who was searching for him.

Officials say Fons will remain in the custody of child services while they complete an investigation.

Fons was reported missing from Flagler County on Monday after his mother was arrested on counterfeiting charges.
