Man Dies After Accident At Buckeye Paper Mill

PERRY, Fla. (AP) --

A worker at a Panhandle paper mill was killed in a forklift accident.

Mark Ferguson died Tuesday at the Buckeye Paper Mill plant in

The 42-year-old worked at the mill as a contractor for BIS
Frucon Industrial Services.

A Frucon spokesman says Ferguson was on foot when the forklift
hit him. He was taken to a Tallahassee hospital, where he was
pronounced dead. The details of the accident were being

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was reviewing
the incident.

"It is with extreme regret and sadness that we report the death of employee Mark Ferguson of Perry Florida. This afternoon, Mr. Ferguson was involved in a collision with an extendable boom construction forklift at our project in Perry, FL. Mr. Ferguson received treatment at the scene and was then transported by life flight to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The medical staff at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital notified us at 4 PM EST that Mr. Ferguson did not survive his injuries. Mr. Ferguson was a valued Journeyman of ours since 2000 and he will be greatly missed. We are conducting an extensive investigation and cooperating with all other investigations to find out how this happened so that we can make sure that it never happens again."
A spokesperson at Buckeye Paper Mill in Perry confirms a contracted employee was killed Tuesday afternoon after a collision with a forklift.

The man was not an employee of the plant.

His identity has not been released at this time.
