Family and friends say good-bye to former Florida Attorney General and Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard W. Ervin.
Justice Ervin passed away peacefully Thursday evening at home in Tallahassee at the age of 99. He had melanoma.
Ervin had served four terms as Florida’s attorney general from 1949 to 1964 and was appointed as the 55th Florida Supreme Court justice in 1964. He played a strong role in the fight for desegregation.
Ervin continued to practice law until 1995.
