The city of Tallahassee Fire Department is getting into gear as Hurricane Frances approaches Florida.
As the storm gets closer authorities will decide if extra staff is needed. The department is also making sure boats are ready in case of extreme flooding.
Firefighters are used to being called out during emergencies and say a hurricane is no different.
Chief Thomas Quillin with the Tallahassee Fire Department says, "Used to being called out for emergencies. Checking equipment, making sure ready and up to speed ready to go."
Fire officials encourage residents to be prepared for the storm as well.
