At 6:04 p.m., units from the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2700 Block of Boatner Drive.
A TPD Officer called the fire in when he noticed smoke coming from the single-story house while patrolling the neighborhood. When fire crews from Stations 4, 3 and 1arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire in a back bedroom and quickly extinguished the blaze.
The three occupants were home at the time of the fire and evacuated safely. The fire was accidental in nature and caused $40,000 in damages. The Red Cross was called out to assist the occupants who were unable to return to the residence. No injuries were reported at the scene.
