Press Release: Tallahassee Fire Department
June 13, 2013
At around 3:40 p.m., units from the Tallahassee Fire Department were called to a house on fire in the 2800 Block of Ardley Lane. The first arriving firefighters reported a fully involved single story house and began attacking the fire with two hose lines. The fire was knocked down in ten minutes and search crews were able to save two puppies from the home. One resident was home at the time of the fire and reported hearing a loud bang prior to seeing flames. He quickly evacuated the home and called 9-1-1.
Three adults and three children live at the residence and will have to find a place to live as the fire damaged more than half of the house. No injuries were reported at the scene and damages were estimated at $60,000. An electrical outlet where an air conditioning unit was plugged in is believed to be the cause of the fire. The Red Cross, TPD and City of Tallahassee Utilities assisted at the scene.
