Tallahassee, FL - The Florida State Conference Center was packed with people dressed to the nines tonight, all in honor of the Leon Heart Ball.

The event was hosted by the American Heart Association and featured some of Tallahassee's top leaders in both health and business. Various companies from around the community had items for auction, with proceeds benefitting the American Heart Association.Dr. Farhat Khairallah, one of the event's chair's, says it's always nice to get dressed up, but the main purpose of the Leon Heart Ball is to raise awareness about heart disease.

"So education, trying to reach out to the community through the kids at school; pretty much everywhere people need to learn how to help other people survive heart disease. "

Heart disease affects one in four people and is the number one killer of women in the united states.
