American Red Cross Release
The American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter launched its Holiday Giving Campaign outlining ways for people to help others during the season of giving. The campaign will run through the end of December.
Various ways of helping include making a financial contribution, donating a new blanket for our disaster shelters, signing a holiday card for a member of the Armed Forces or a purchase in our Holiday Gift Catalog. The Red Cross is not a governmental or federal agency and receives funds from private donations.
“Together we can spread hope to those in need – victims of local disasters and those in the military,” said Dan Samborn, CEO for the American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter.
The due date for the Holiday Cards for Heroes for members of our Armed Forces serving our country is December 5th.
Shoppers may support Red Cross programs by purchasing a variety of symbolic gifts found in the Red Cross Holiday Giving Catalog. The most popular of these is providing a full day of emergency shelter, which starts at $50 for one person. Catalogs are available at the Red Cross office at 1115 Easterwood Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
“We encourage everyone in the Big Bend area to help us change lives and save lives.”

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
