During these severe storms, the Southern Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross is prepared to help residents stay safe. The organization has eight severe weather apps for smartphones that will alert you if your area is experiencing severe weather.
"In the last two years, the Red Cross has released eight or nine apps for Droid and iPhone users but this right here is rated as one of the highest in the country now, but it's a very good preparation tool to have," said Executive Director of the Southern Georgia Chapter of American Red Cross, Terri Jenkins.
The apps include a tornado alert, hurricane alert, flood alerts and more. For more information on how to download the apps, visit www.redcross.org.
You can also help donate to help people affected by disasters like the recent tornadoes, storms and countless other crises by making a gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
"Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small."
Redcross.org and 1-800 HELP-NOW - Disaster Relief is the preferred giving option.
