Annual Memorial Day Ceremony in Tallahassee

Updated: Mon 7:14 PM, May 28, 2012

Tallahassee, FL -- May 28, 2012 --

The memories of those who served resonated throughout Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee. A big crowd gathered to honor our veterans still with us, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

"They didn't invent freedom, but veterans preserved the freedom that started many, many, many years ago, and the veterans are still upholding that tradition," said Air Force Veteran Charles Lecroy.

The crowd ranged from Veterans over 90, to children under one. Meredith McMackin was also in attendance. Her son, Julian Woodall, was a Tallahassee soldier who lost his life in Iraq.

"It's a day to reflect and remember and honor, and that's what's important to me, is to honor his life and all of those that gave their life," said McMackin.

A time to reflect, and a time for all of us to say thanks to our brave men and women.
