Press Release: Wakulla County Sheriff's Office
The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old Crawfordville man in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries in the Wakulla Gardens section of Crawfordville in late June and early July, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
Shawnteves Tyre Stokes faces four counts of burglary, three counts of petit theft and one count of grand theft in four cases that were reported June 26, June 27, June 27 and July 1.
Three of the thefts occurred on Maxson Road and the other was reported on Dakota Drive. One of the vehicle burglary victims reported the loss of more than $300 worth of personal property creating the grand theft.
Some of the stolen items included: a purse, cell phones, credit cards, medications, a pocket knife and GPS. Many of the items have been recovered by the WCSO.
The suspect was identified through the use of a stolen credit card in Tallahassee and Stokes was interviewed and later admitted his involvement in the crimes. A female suspect was also involved in the investigation, but has not been charged in Wakulla County. Charges outside of the Wakulla County jurisdiction are possible.
“If there is something that I would like to stress about these vehicle burglaries it is the importance of locking your vehicle and removing all valuables from the vehicle,” said Sheriff Charlie Creel. “It is the best way to prevent a vehicle burglary and it only takes a few seconds to lock your car or truck.”
Stokes was booked into the Wakulla County Jail and remains in jail under a $24,000 bond.
