FAMU's 2013-2014 football schedule still comes as a shocker to many students and fans because of a major match-up missing.
The Rattlers' newly released football schedule is missing the annual Atlanta Classic.
The athletic director says FAMU is not under contractual agreement with the classic's sponsor this year.
Although administrators say the Atlanta and the Orlando Classics combined make up five percent of the university's budget.
FAMU supporter O'Neal Jackson says not going to the classic in Georgia this year could actually save the school money.
He says, "You're paying for the band to go there for a couple of nights, the football team, Ms. FAMU and her court, the president and all of that stuff. So, you're not making any money. But, when the game is played in Tallahassee, Florida at Bragg Memorial Stadium, you don't pay for all of those things."
FAMU Athletics Director Derek Horne says, "If our fans go out and buy the season tickets like they should and show up to the games here, with a fifth homegame, I feel that's more than adequate enough cover the cost that we might feel being missed from the Atlanta Football Classic."
Horne says having five instead of four home games and two in Orlando will help bring in more support.
He says playing in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge will give funding to FAMU.
Horne adds that FAMU's match-up against Ohio State Buckeyes will pay a guaranteed $900,000.
