Atlanta School Shooting: 14 Year Old Shot, School on Lockdown

ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say a 14-year-old has been wounded in a shooting at an Atlanta middle school and a suspect has been taken into custody.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos says the wounded student has been taken "alert, conscious and breathing" to Grady Hospital.

He says the suspect has been tentatively identified as a student and all other students at the school are safe. Campos says the teen was shot outside of the school building.

Atlanta Fire Cpt. Marian McDaniel says the teen was shot in the head. McDaniel says a teacher suffered minor cuts and bruises, but was treated on the scene about 2 miles south of downtown.

ATLANTA An Atlanta fire official says a 14-year-old was shot in the head at a middle school and is hospitalized.

Police are at the scene of a shooting at Price Middle School in Atlanta where at least two people have been shot and at least one person was taken to the hospital, reports CBS Atlanta.

A spokesman with Atlanta Fire Rescue Department confirmed to CBS Atlanta News that a 14-year-old student had been shot in the head and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta. The second victim, a teacher, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. That teacher was not taken to the hospital.

At least one person has been taken into custody.

The school is currently on lockdown.
