Jefferson County, FL - October 10, 2012 - A Jefferson County man has been given the maximum sentence in a case of child abuse.
A judge sentenced 30-year-old Marvin Campbell to serve 30 years in prison.
He was accused and now convicted of beating his girlfriend's son last year. The child was just a year old at the time.
The little boy survived, but was hospitalized with severe brain injuries.
Campbell was convicted of aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm.
He was a repeat offender which added to the length of his sentencing.
Jefferson County, FL - October 17, 2011 - Marvin Campbell Jr. has been charged with aggravated child abuse, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office .The charges come after the investigation into the abuse of a 1-year-old boy.
Jefferson County deputies say there was no abuse suspected from the mother of the child, the girlfriend of Campbell.
The baby is now "doing well" in Jacksonville at a rehab center.
Jefferson County, FL - A toddler who was badly beaten last Thursday 9/22 finally woke up today 9/27 after undergoing emergency brain surgery.
Jefferson County deputies say there was no abuse suspected from the mother of the child. The toddler's condition is improving. At this time, deputies are unsure if the child will suffer brain damage. WCTV will keep you posted on when a court date is set and charges are filed.

More information has been released about the baby in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial. While authorities are not releasing the first name of the baby, they are telling us that the baby boy's last name is Gardener. Baby Gardener is 18-months-old.

Deputies in Jefferson County are investigating a child abuse incident.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the abuse of a 1-year-old boy. The suspect, 30-year-old Marvin Campbell Jr. is behind bars.
The baby is at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Deputies say Campbell was watching the child at the mother's home yesterday while the mother, Heather Murphy, wasn't home. Murphy and Campbell are dating, but Campbell isn't the child's father. He called 911 at about 1:15 yesterday afternoon when the baby was unresponsive. The child was then rushed to the hospital and had emergency brain surgery. Jefferson County deputies arrested Campbell because he's wanted in Gadsden County for not paying child support.
They're holding him here in Jefferson because he gave them a false name at the scene.

Eyewitness News has learned that a boy, between 12 and 18 months of age, was beaten by the boyfriend of his mother, Heather Murphy, in Jefferson County yesterday, according to authorities in Jefferson County.
The boy is at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
The boyfriend, Marvin Campbell Jr., is currently being held in the Gadsden County Jail on as he was wanted in Gadsden County on an unrelated charge.
All details of the incident are under investigation at this time.
