Associated Press Release

ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta's police chief is proposing city leaders draft legislation to banish convicted prostitutes from returning to areas in the city where they've already been arrested.

WAGA-TV reports Police Chief George Turner has asked the city council to approve a law aimed at ordering convicted prostitutes not to return to areas where they have been arrested. The proposed law calls for an offender to be rearrested if they are found in the same area where police initially took them into custody.

The legislation calls for a prostitute convicted for a second time to be banished from city limits forever.

The television station reports the Atlanta City Council Public Safety Panel is set to discuss the proposal Tuesday.
