Madison County, FL - November 13, 2012 - A local man showed how far he would go (or bike, rather) to help out a friend.
On Saturday, John Ovenden rode 100 miles on a bike, all to raise money for the victim of a car crash.
He says his friend Virginia Usina was badly hurt in a single vehicle crash down the street from her home. It all happened early October in Madison county.
He asked people to sponsor each mile he rode on his bike.
Ovenden was able to raise more than $5,000 to go towards Virginia's treatment.
Madison County, FL - November 7, 2012 - John Ovenden has planned a 100-mile bike ride to raise money for a victim of a car crash.
Ovenden says his friend, Virginia Usina, 19, was badly hurt in a single vehicle crash down the street from her home.
It all happened early October in Madison county.
Usina was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and has been recovering ever since.
Ovenden hopes to help her family raise the money for her treatments.
"In the end, I hope she gets back to the way she was, I really do. This was a very outgoing girl and to see her like this just breaks my heart," he said.
Ovenden plans to ride his bike on Saturday. He wants people to sponsor each mile he rides.
He also has t-shirts to sell for $12.
