Tallahassee, FL - The Big Bend Homeless Coalition held its Champions of Hope Fall fundraiser Thursday evening.

It honored two people who have used their programs and made it out of homelessness, as well as honored two organizations who help with their mission.

Sylvester Jones was one of those celebrated. He fell into homelessness after his mother passed, but made it back onto his feet. The executive director says this shows that people can make it out of being homeless.

"We want to take this opportunity not to focus on the problem of homelessness, but that it is possible to get out of homelessness and that success and that celebration deserves an event like this," said Susan Pourciau, executive director for the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.

The event was held at the Carriage House at Goodwood Museum and Gardens. Sustainable Tallahassee and a Bag for Hope were the two organizations recognized for their work in helping to give hope to the homeless.
