The governor, his wife and lieutenant governor had a big party at the governor's mansion Tuesday evening.

It was in honor of Black History Month. The purpose was to honor the contributions of African-American community leaders, educators and students in Florida.

The event included music from a live band, lots of food and awards.

Three educators and three students all received awards for their accomplishments in the classroom.

"I won a full 4-year scholarship to any college/university in Florida...it was awesome getting to meet the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor and his wife," said Devon Robinson, who attends New Smyrna Beach High School in Volusia County.

Information about the contests and Florida’s Black History Month is available on Florida’s Black History Month website, www.FloridaBlackHistory.com.
