The Florida Department of Environmental Protection estimates between 400 and 500 gallons of diesel fuel spilled when a tanker overturned at the corner of Geddie Road and Highway 20.
DEP Spokeswoman Mara Burger says the truck was carrying 2700 gallons of diesel and 1000 gallons of unleaded gasoline.
The truck was leaking fuel into a ditch at the crash site.
Burger says crews dammed the ditch so the fuel could not flow into Lake Talquin. Burger says crews pumped the fuel out of the truck and the ditch.
Burger says some of the soil will be removed and DEP employees will be returning to the scene today to take samples.
Tallahassee, FL - Blountstown Hwy has been closed due to an overturned fuel truck. Reports that the fuel truck overturned came in around 6:15 this evening.
The Tallahassee Fire Department and Tallahassee Fire Department Hazmat crews are on scene.
