News Release: Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–As part of a settlement Attorney General Bondi’s Office reached with AT&T, Attorney General Pam Bondi has distributed $20,000 in prepaid phone cards to the United States Central Command, located at MacDill Air Force Base. The settlement resolves allegations that AT&T misrepresented material terms of its offer or sale of prepaid phone cards to consumers.
“It is wonderful that we are able to provide $20,000 in prepaid phone cards to our members of the military through this settlement with AT&T,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
In addition to providing the prepaid phone cards, the settlement requires AT&T to do the following:
· Not to make any express or implied misrepresentations that have the effect of deceiving or misleading consumers in connection with its offer or sale of its prepaid phone cards;
· To inform clearly and conspicuously consumers of any material fee in connection to the prepaid phone cards; and
· To disclose on the front of any prepaid phone cards that advertise a specified number of minutes, in immediate proximity to the advertised number of minutes, the telephone services or circumstances for which those minutes will be delivered.
