Boy Scout Gets Ride To School In Style [GALLERY]

Tallahassee, FL - The school bus and parent car pool have nothing on this school ride to school.

Talking about riding in style. Fourth grader Derreon Sutton caught a ride to school this morning with NASCAR driver Scott Lagassee.

The whole school cheered as the Nationwide Number 8 Boy Scouts of America Chevy Camero pulled up to the front of Sealey Elementary School.

Derreon was chosen as a part of the national "Drive a Scout to School" Program. The ride was a surprise.

He says, "It was really cool and very loud. I really enjoyed it. I'd love to get in it again. Feels like I'm popular and real cool."

Lagasse, says, "We're really excited. Scouting does so much, so many great things for so many great kids and families. To be a part of that, to help grow that is a huge honor."

Derreon wasn't too cool for school, after his exciting ride, he still had to go to class.

Lagasse is scheduled to be at the Governor Square Mall tonight (Friday) from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00. He's scheduled to be at Bass Pro Shop in Tallahassee from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Tallahassee, FL - NASCAR driver Scott Lagassee will be at Governor Square Mall in Tallahassee Friday night from 5:30 to 8. He will also be at Bass Pro Shop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Lagassee will be signing autographs and promoting the Boy Scouts of America.

NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Scott Lagasse Jr. (Scotty) and Team Scott Lagasse Racing (TeamSLR) will be bringing their Boy Scouts of America Drive a Scout to School Program to Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday, September 20, 2013.

Scotty and Dereon Sutton, the selected Scout from the local Boy Scouts of America Office, the Suwannee River Area Council, will be arriving at Sealey Elementary School at 8:45 a.m. in Scotty’s NASCAR Nationwide No. 8 Boy Scouts of America Chevy Camero. They will be greeted by Jackie Pons, Superintendent of Leon County Schools; Sealey Principal, Demetria Clemons; and the entire staff and student body of Sealey Elementary.

Scott Lagasse Jr. is a race car driver on the NASCAR Nationwide Series circuit. He currently drives the #8 Hybrid Light/Boy Scouts of America Chevrolet for his own team. He is the son of former Sports Car & NASCAR driver Scott Lagasse Sr. Scott Lagasse Jr. is the exclusive NASAR driver for the Boy Scouts of America.
