The Boys' Choir of Tallahassee is at it again. They're hitting the road for another commemorative event.

Last week, we told you about their invitation to perform in Selma, Alabama for the re-enactment of the 1965 Civil Rights march.

Eyewitness News was there when they departed for the trip.

The Boys' Choir of Tallahassee warmed up their voices before travelling.

The choir boarded the bus Friday morning, heading to Selma, Alabama.

Members were invited to perform for the "Bloody Sunday" observance, which is a re-enactment of when 600 people marched in Selma March 7, 1965.

Gabriel Figgers, Boys' Choir President, says, "It's an honor to be in the presence of so many historic people and the presence of an historic event that took place in that city. We're very honored to be invited."

The Boys' Choir performs in concert on Saturday night. They will have the opportunity to participate in the march re-enactment on Sunday.

The choir comes back to Tallahassee on Sunday night.

First Lady Michelle Obama is expected to be a speaker along with many civil rights leaders.

The Tallahassee Boys Choir prepares for a trip to Selma, Alabama.

The choir has been selected to perform at the annual Bloody Sunday event on March 4. The ceremony celebrates black history. First Lady Michelle Obama is expected to be a speaker along with many civil rights leaders.

Dale Spears, who sings Bass II in the choir says he and his friends are eager to show off their talents.

"We feel confident like we're going to the Super Bowl," said Spears. We've had performances where we were three or four hours standing up straight., just can't do anything but stand and sing. You know it's just a two hour concert. It's nothing to us."

The choir is under the direction of Dr. Earl Lee. It is made of up 72 boys ranging from ages 9-19. Lee says they are still looking to raise money for buses to take the kids on the 5 hour bus trip.

Why cant you people be happy that we are representing Tallahassee in a positive way. Is this how we are treated while doing positive things? The people of Tallahassee are supposed to be on our side and not against us!

What incredibly positive thing are you referring to? I missed that and it certainly is not related in the story above. Personally, I'd be humiliated to have to take part in such a racist, bigoted, event such as this. Think of the damage it does to the black community to keep pounding into their heads that they are special, that they are *entitled*, the falsehood that the white people enslaved them, when the simple truth is that their fellow tribesmen enslaved them and sold them off like cattle to anyone that would buy them. I say it again; what positive are you referring to? It certainly is not this event.
