Branford, FL - One person is dead after a fatal accident in Suwannee County Thursday night.
It happened after a vehicle drove through a stop sign at the intersection of 43rd Road and 280th Street in Branford.
The car then entered a wooded area and struck several trees. Police say the driver fled the scene.
Two passengers were in the car at the time of the accident. One passenger, 24-year-old Jeffrey Stacy, was pronounced dead on scene. The other passenger, 21-year-old Erin Trusty, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
It is still unknown who was driving, and where that driver is.
