Jicarre Watkins funeral was a celebration of life. His friends and family said the Brooks High School Trojan excelled both on and off the field.. before his life was cut short in a tragic SUV crash on July ninth.
Bobby Christian is a fellow Brooks County Trojan and said "he was one of my best friends. he was a good guy. Always stayed motivated, always laughing, dancing, smiling. Always in good spirits."
Maurice Freeman is the Brooks High School Trojans Coach. He said Jicarre was a "good leader. A prankster in the locker room, up and down the hall he was a prankster. But the thing I loved about him the most is he would always check on his coach."
He also looked after his other teammates. But at the service on Saturday at Brooks High School they looked after him.
Watkin's teammates, Shawn Waters and Johnie Parker also lost their lives in the crash. They were layed to rest last weekend. It's not just locals that have shown support for the boys families. Visitors to Quitman are also behind the city and team that lost three soldiers.
Clay Phillips is the Brooks County Trojans Chaplain. He said "they feel our pain, folks coming through feel our pain. You can see and recognize genuine love. And so when folks see us they know that we bring that hammer and they know that we're genuine."
