Quincy, FL - A Valentine's Day fire has left two homes badly burnt in the area of Love Street in Quincy.
According to Quincy Fire Department, a man started a fire in his fireplace this evening; they say he then walked out to his porch to grab a sandwich.
When the man came back inside, he noticed a fire emitting from the fireplace. He went to get some water, but told fire officials that the heat was too much, so he fled from the home.
Eventually, the entire home was engulfed in flames. A house a few feet next door also caught fire from the heat.
One fire crew put the fire out at the first house, and a second crew later put out the fire in the second house.
During the fire, they were dumping water on a third house to keep it cool, so that it wouldn't catch on fire from the radiation.
It all lasted for approximately 2 hours, and officials say things were under control around 9:00pm this evening.
There were no injuries, and the State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.
