Tallahassee, FL - Tonight there was a candlelight vigil for an FSU student killed in a hit and run. That vigil was at the Unconquered Statue just outside the stadium on Florida State's campus.

More than 100 students showed up to hold a candle in honor of FSU senior, Alex McDonald. The 23-year-old was killed Thanksgiving morning in a hit and run in his hometown of Ocala, Florida. Police there believe they have the person responsible in custody. They believe the driver may have been drinking but are waiting on toxicology reports.

McDonald's fraternity brothers with SAE helped organize Thursday night's vigil. They were there, along with students and McDonald's father, William McDonald were there.

"I feel blessed to have been part of his life for 23 years, a short 23 years but a fun filled 23 years, and I'll never remember all the good times cause there were so many," said William McDonald.

"I miss him, I love him I'll see him again one day, I'm glad the whole community pulled together as they did, it's made a tough time a lot easier for most of the guys," said Rafael Grigoryan, one of the brothers in SAE.

McDonald's father says his son would have graduated December 15th with a degree in business and hospitality. Instead, he says he will walk across the stage and accept his son's diploma.
