Carjacking Suspect Arrested [SLIDE SHOW & PROBABLE CAUSE ATTACHED]

Tallahassee, FL - Jason E. Smith has been arrested for a carjacking that occurred yesterday, December 11, 2012.

Tallahassee, FL - December 11, 2012 - Tallahassee Police have in custody, the man accused of carjacking an elderly woman's car outside the United Methodist Church in Tallahassee off of Park Avenue.

Police say the man pointed a gun at the woman, stealing her car. When officers arrived in the area they spotted the vehicle on Monroe Street.

"The vehicle fled from the [police lights] and struck another police car and came to rest right behind us," said Officer Dave Northway.

The car ended up at the Capital City Bank at the corner of Monroe and Tennessee. One officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries on his ankle. The victim of the carjacking wasn't the only person impacted. Several cars in the parking lot were actually smashed into.

Britt Henderson works at Capital City Bank and came out to find his car had taken quite the hit.

"I was shocked," said Henderson. "I didn't know what to think. I was just hoping it was driveable."

Police aren't releasing the name of the suspect or what weapon was used in the carjacking. He remains in jail pending formal charges.

Tallahassee, FL - 10:30 am - Around 9:30 this morning, a female victim was carjacked. The victim called the police to report that she was carjacked. Soon after, TPD spotted the car on Monroe Street. Police turned on their lights to alert the vehicle. The vehicle drove away, but ended up crashing into a car in the parking of Capital City Bank. The car also managed to hit one of the TPD cruisers. An officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A suspect is in custody.
