Tallahassee, FL -- February 3, 2012 --

With the end of NASA's Shuttle program, space exploration probably isn't at the forefront of people's minds.

But a new feature at the Challenger Learning Center wants to change that.

Space Junk 3D gives viewers a glimpse into the cluttered space near earth.

The film explores what space junk is and how big a problem it could be for space flight and us here on Earth.

Chelsea Bundschuh, Challenger Learning Center Marketing Manager says, "There has been a turn away from space education. We really see this as a way to bring a relevent, up to day topic back to the forefront, and for people to remember how important space is to all of our lives."

It's estimated that six thousand tons of space debris floats around in Low Earth Orbit.

You can see Space Junk 3D at the Challenger Learning Center's Imax theatre starting next Friday.
