VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The City of Valdosta Utilities Department will install water valves on S. Troup Street between East Hill Avenue and Griffin Avenue, beginning Tuesday, August 19, at 8 a.m. The work is expected to be completed by end of day Friday, August 22, weather permitting.
The purpose of installing the new water valves is to provide isolation capability to sections of the water main in preparation for the upcoming South Troup Street Improvement Project.
The main impact points of the valve project will be:
- S. Troup Street, south of Hwy 84/E. Hill Avenue
- S. Troup Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
- McDougal Street, between S. Troup and Holiday Streets
- S. Troup Street, north of New Hudson Street
The construction will necessitate lane closures at various points of the valve installation. Traffic control devices and flaggers will be on site to alert motorists approaching work zones. As always, motorists are urged to drive with caution and adhere to the traffic warning signs, for their safety and the safety of others.
