There was an unusual apology at Tuesday evening's Lowndes County Board of Commissioners meeting.
A representative from Advanced Disposals said the company was sorry after its first week collecting trash. They recently won a contract that allows them to collect trash in the unicorporated parts of Lowndes County. But slow pick-ups and the inability to collect glass angered many citizens.
Lowndes County Clerk Paige Dukes said "they've got additional contractors getting the carts out to everyone. They've started accepting glass in the recycling as well. And they, you know, expect to be even more responsive in the future once everyone's accounts are established."
On average the company got 800 phone calls a day during the first week from locals that had issues with pick-ups.
