Copper Thieves Strike Local Construction Site

Tallahassee FL- A construction site near FSU student housing was robbed of thousands of dollars worth of materials.

It all happened last tuesday when the Tallahassee Police Department responded to a call to the 601 South Copeland Street Construction site. according to police, an unknown person illegally entered the site after hours and removed several thousand dollars worth of copper wire.

Officer David Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department explained, "So we are hoping with the help from the public we will be able to find the people behind this. Obviously when there is theft involved it comes at a cost to the public and the construction sight."

Investigators are currently asking anyone with any information to call the Big Bend Crime Stoppers at the number 850-574-8477.

On 9/3/13 The Tallahassee Police Department was called to the construction site at 601 South Copeland Street. This area is part of the College Town Construction Project.

The site manager reported an unknown person or persons illegally entered the construction site after hours and removed several thousand dollars’ worth of copper wire.

Investigators from the Burglary Crimes Unit along with Forensic Technicians responded to the scene and assumed the primary role in the investigation.

TPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is pursuing all leads and asks community members with information about this case to call TPD at 891-4200 or the Big Bend Crime Stoppers at 574-TIPS. Crime Stoppers does not want your name, just your information and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
