Florida Highway Patrol Release
Jefferson County, FL - David Neely, 51, of Monticello, FL was traveling eastbound on US Highway 90 approaching Old Tung Grove Road in a 2001 Mitsibushi Galant with a 3 year old passenger child when he traveled out of the eastbound lane onto the south grassy shoulder west of Old Tung Grove Road.
Neely continued traveling east on the south grassy shoulder towards Old Tung Grove Road and began to rotate counter-clockwise causing the right side undercarriage to collide with a concrete culvert.
The Galant continued traveling east across Old Tung Grove Road and onto the south grassy shoulder east of Old Tung Grove Road.
East of Old Tung Grove Road, the Galant began to overturn on the south grassy shoulder and came to final rest facing west on the south grassy shoulder east of Old Tung Grove Road.
Neely's condition has been listed as critical at this time, while the child's has been now listed as minor.
Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies, Jefferson County EMS, Jefferson County Fire Rescue, Leon County Fire Rescue, Leon County EMS.
According to Florida Highway Patrol:
Jefferson County, FL - At approximately 6:15pm this evening there was a single vehicle crash in Jefferson County in the area of US 90 and Old Tung Grove Road.
A man and 3 year old passenger were traveling east bound on US 90 in a Mitsubishi Galant when the vehicle struck a culvert and subsequently crashed.
Both the driver and the child passenger were then entrapped in the vehicle. Upon removal, both driver and passenger were sent to the hospital with critical injuries.
