Press Release: Florida Highway Patrol
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 23-year-old Robert Roy Newman III of McAlpin, Florida was killed in a Saturday afternoon crash.
The crash happened just after 5pm Saturday on 86th Street just east of Live Oak. Newman was driving a white 2002 Toyota sport utility vehicle westbound on 86th Street. Newman failed to negotiate a curve to the left and the SUV traveled off the roadway onto the grass shoulder. That's where the SUV struck a fence and a tree.
Newman was pronounced dead on the scene by Suwannee County Fire Rescue. Excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash. Newman was not wearing a seatbelt.
