A crash in Suwannee County leaves one man dead. 49-year-old James Daughtry was traveling north on CR-137 around midnight on July 8. As his vehicle entered a curve to the left, Florida Highway Patrol says Daughtry failed to complete the curve safely and drove off the roadway onto the easternmost grassy shoulder.
The vehicle continued traveling north and struck a large tree with its front. Upon initial collision Daughtry's vehicle rotated and came to a final rest.
Daughtry was airlifted to Gainesville, Florida where he died from injuries sustained in the crash. Daughtry was a resident of Live Oak, Florida. According to FHP, there was no alcohol involved in the crash.
