Press Release: Florida Department of Children & Families

TALLAHASSEE— A public assistance benefits employee who negotiated substantial savings on a contract by using specialized skills learned in the private sector. A manager whose unique talents transformed DCF's child protection practices, demonstrating how to move a huge, complex system to higher standards of practice.

These are just a few examples of the dozen Department of Children and Families employees who were honored today during a celebration for Public Service Recognition Week.

This week is Public Service Recognition Week, and the Department of Children and Families is showing appreciation to our employees for the important role they play in improving the quality of life for all Floridians.

Secretary David Wilkins recognized individuals who demonstrate exceptional efforts in service to our clients. With enthusiasm and steadfast dedication, these employees go beyond the call of duty in support of our mission to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.

The honorees were announced at a special ceremony in Tallahassee today.

“I can’t express enough how proud I am to be part of the DCF family. I have met hundreds of DCF employees and am continually impressed with the compassion and enthusiasm with which they serve the families and communities around them,” said Secretary Wilkins. “Thanks to our hard-working employees, we have been very successful over the past two years in implementing major changes that are making lives better for Florida’s vulnerable children and adults.”
