A Tallahassee man has been arrested for leaving three young children in the car alone in 92 degree heat.
A parking enforcement officer noticed the children, ages 1, 5 and 8 sitting in a minivan around 3:30 Monday afternoon. The van was parked downtown in front of a building at 111 South Monroe Street.
Arrest papers said the front windows were rolled down, but the rear windows were not.
Arrest papers say the oldest child told deputies her step dad asked her to watch the other children while he went to the courthouse.
Deputies say it was 45 minutes before the father returned.
34 year old Anthony James was arrested for child cruelty when he returned. He told the deputy he had only been gone for a few minutes and didn't do anything wrong.
The children were picked up by their mother soon afterward.
