ATLANTA (AP) -- The Dalai Lama is back in Atlanta, holding a series of lectures and discussions on ethics and compassion.

The Dalai Lama will visit Emory University on Wednesday to lead an introductory course on secular ethics, which is described as a system of shared principles that go beyond religious differences while still respecting and valuing the significance of religion in people's lives.

The event is part of a continuing partnership between the university and the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, who has visited the campus five times.

Under the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative, a group of Tibetan monks have been sent by the Dalai Lama to the university to learn science. Emory professors also travel each year to the Dalai Lama's home in Dharamsala, India, to teach science to monks and nuns.
