Thomas County, GA - A gruesome discovery was made at the Thomas County Central High School football stadium last Tuesday night.
"There was a cat that was decapitated and it was found in the bathrooms adjacent to the football field, said Edward Williams, Executive Director of the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society.
The school's Superintendent Dr. Dusty Kornegay said there was a scrimmage game going on at the stadium that night. He said once the remains were found, an employee with the custodial department came in and disposed what was left of the kitten.
School officials say the bathrooms are locked and unlocked, depending on what events are going on at the stadium. That means it hard to pin-point exactly when the kitten was placed in the bathroom and who or what placed it there.
Williams says they learned about the discovery after the mother of one of the students at the high school called them to report it.
Employees with the humane society's Animal Control Division have turned to the Thomas County Sheriff's Office for help in tracking down whoever may have done this.
"We're offering a $500 reward for anybody who has information leading to the arrest and conviction of someone involved in this case," Williams said.
