Amidst all the bills and politicians at Florida's Capitol Wednesday, there were a few people checking for cavities and bright smiles.
The Florida Dental Health Foundation brought a mobile dentist office to the courtyard of Florida's Capitol. Ten foster care kids from Leon County received dental care at the annual "Dentist Day on the Hill."
The Florida Dental Association uses the time to present their policies to lawmakers, which this year includes opposing coverage under Medicaid expansion.
"We get less than one percent of the budget to begin with, and by keeping it as a medicaid fee, we're able to treat far more children, far more efficiently, without having to go through a managed care system where you have to pay people to manage it that we don't already need," said Rick Stevenson, 1st Vice President of the Florida Dental Association.
