Tallahassee - October 1, 2012 - 11:40pm
Four years ago, 12th grader Joni Lindsey, says she was diagnosed with type two diabetes. She's a student at FAMU DRS. This week she's enjoying homecoming week festivities. And on the first day she took the time to participate in a rally at the end of the school day to educate her fellow students about diabetes.
"It has affected my life tremendously, I watch what I eat everyday, I exercise, I am on the dance team and at the same time I still lead a normal life," said Lindsey.
Tallahassee Mayor John Marks even helped mark the assembly. He sent over a proclamation to Lindsey, making Monday, October 1st officially 'Sock Out Diabetes Day' at FAMU DRS.
