Double Fatal Accident on Meridian Road

Tallahassee, FL - On Wednesday October 31, 2012 at 7:29 pm, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash on North Meridian Road between Gardner Road and Summerbrooke Drive. Deputies and first responders from Leon County EMS and the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures; however 52 year old Everett Thompson Jr. died on the scene. LCSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed this investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Willie James Gardner, 61, was driving a 2002 Nissan Frontier southbound on North Meridian Road. Thompson Jr. was the passenger in the truck.

The vehicle left the roadway onto the west shoulder of North Meridian Road. The truck struck a tree on the west shoulder of North Meridian Road. Gardner was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. He later died as a result of those injuries. The circumstances surrounding this crash are still under investigation.

Tallahassee, FL - Leon County Sheriff's Office reports a double fatal accident occurred between Summerbrook Drive and Gardener Rd. at around 8pm, last night.

Only one car was involved in the accident. One person died on scene, another died at TMH, later.

Names of victims have not yet been released.
