Tallahassee, FL -- May 30, 2012 --

On Tuesday, Dr. Catherine Kunst, executive director of the Leon County Research and Development Authority (LCRDA) and Innovation Park, resigned from her post.

Dr. Kunst cited a desire to pursue other professional development opportunities. When she interviewed for the position, Kunst mentioned that the challenges that existed at the time with
the authority attracted her to the job. She believes the park is in a very good place based on her original goals and the authority has stabilized with a strong foundation for the future. Authority officials agree.

"As a board, we are truly appreciative of the professionalism and expertise that Dr. Kunst brought to Innovation Park," said Ray Eaton, chairman of the LCRDA Board of Governors. "This has been a transformative time and I believe that we are well poised to continue to make progress thanks to her hard work.”

For the next month, Dr. Kunst will actively work with the Board of Governors and staff to make the pending transition as smooth as possible.

The LCRDA Chairman has requested that Leon County government provide administrative support staff to the authority during this transition. An agenda item for consideration by the Leon County Board of County Commissioners regarding the LCRDA Chairman’s request is anticipated for the June 12 commission meeting.

"During my experience on the LCRDA board, Dr. Kunst brought a great balance of strategy, innovation and administrative guidance to the authority," said Commissioner Kristin Dozier, a member of the LCRDA Board of Governors. "Obviously, this is a great loss for our
community, but we are grateful to be in a much better position moving forward."

Kunst's last day will be Friday, July 6, 2012.
