The drought in the Big Bend area continues to impact area residents. Now one water management facility is asking residents to start cutting back on water use. Despite the rain brought by Tropical Storm Beryl from earlier in the week areas like Jefferson county are still suffering drought conditions. Now the Suwannee River water management districts governing board is taking action. They voted to adopt a phase 3 water shortage order.
These guidelines will go into effect June 13. This will cover agriculture, commercial, and residential users in the county. This includes counties Dixie Gilchrist Hamilton Madison Taylor union parts of Jefferson to name a few. They're asking residents to limit car washing irrigate on certain days. The area is seeing its lowest rain call total since 1932.
