Drowsy Driving Blamed in Crash

Tallahassee, Florida - November 18, 2012

A driver says he fell asleep at the wheel leaving two people in serious condition Saturday at 11:30pm in Leon County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Cody Rhames, 24, was traveling west on State Road 20. Rhames says he fell asleep.

The release says Rhames' 2002 Ford Ranger traveled through the east lane and left the roadway to the south. The car continued west causing the front right of Rhames' Ford to strike a tree south of the roadway.

FHP says the car then overturned an unknown amount of times before striking a wooden post and a cable post. The Ford came to final rest south of State Road 20 facing southbound.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS, and Tallahassee Fire Department assisted on scene.

According to FHP, there was no alcohol in Rhames' system. Rhames was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

The passenger of the car, Jaret Ammons, 30, was also taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
