Tallahassee, FL - Eagle Scout Cole Palmer, from Troop 23 in Tallahassee, donated a 14-foot custom trailer to the Tallahassee Fire Department Tuesday afternoon.
The 17-year-old designed the trailer to display the World Trade Center Beam artifact currently housed at Fire Station 1.
It will allow the steel beam to be mobile and displayed with flags from various first responder agencies.
Palmer says, "I've had many people come, just 30 minutes ago, I had a guy come over here, he started crying over the beam. So, it's so emotional. It's so wonderful to be able to work with all these fabulous people and to get this done. It's really an honor."
The trailer has a wooden box to store flags while the beam is not on display. Palmer also designed brochure boxes containing information on the 11-foot beam, that will be placed at each fire station in Tallahassee.
