Florida Highway Patrol Press Release

An early morning car crash claimed the life of a Live Oak man and left another man in critical condition.

Police say two cars and a motorcycle were travelling southbound on route 27 near State Road 349 when a 2003 Mustang, driven by 45-year-old Michael Miller, rear-ended the motorcycle.

Officials say the driver of the motorcycle, 41-year-old Kenneth Lucier landed in the southbound travel lane where he was struck by a third vehicle and dragged several feet. Lucier was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say Lucier's passenger, 38-year-old Timothy Lucier landed on the paved portion of U.S. 27. He was later transported to Shands at the University of Florida where he remains in critical condition.

Police arrested 45-year-old Michael Miller because he was an unlicensed repeat traffic offender.

Authorities are still investigating if the crash was alcohol related.
