Thomas County, GA - One man was taken to the hospital after an early morning tractor trailer crash.
Thomas County Sheriffs Deputies say it happened shortly before 5:00am Tuesday along Highway 84 East near Boston. They say an initial crash investigation reveals the driver of the tractor trailer may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The tractor trailer was carrying at least seven metal coils weighing several thousand pounds each. The coils were ejected from the bed of the trailer during the crash.
We're told the driver was conscious when medical crews arrived. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. No word on his current condition.
After about five hours crews were able to clear the roadways and traffic is now back to normal.
