Education is still one of the biggest issues Florida lawmakers are trying to tackle this session.

Tonight, the new Commissioner of Education will speak about several topics at tonight's Parent Teacher Organization meeting at Roberts Elementary School in the north part of town. The PTO meeting starts at 6pm.

Lawmakers have discussed several issues pertaining to education, including same-gender classrooms and if they work, testing throughout the state, FCAT versus Common Core, and of course, teacher pay raises.

WCTV hopes to get information from the new Commissioner about several of these topics.

Stewart is the new Commissioner since Tony Bennett resigned after allegations he changed grades of a charter school in Indiana as Chief of Education.
